16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2024

Gender-based violence is defined as violence that is directed against a woman because she is a woman or that affects women disproportionately. The Goal

Labour’s Manifesto states: For too long, violence against women and girls has been ignored. Our landmark mission to halve violence against women and girls in a decade will require a national effort. We will use every government tool available to target perpetrators and address the root causes of abuse and violence.

Victims of domestic abuse will be better protected from vile perpetrators under new plans to strengthen the police’s fight against violence towards women and girls, announced by the Home Secretary Yvette Cooper MP. (Friday, 20 September)

Tackling stalking is central to Labour’s mission to halve violence against women and girls in a decade.

Let us as individuals agree to use every opportunity to work with others towards achieving this goal early by acting now.

The United Nations supported 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2024:

• November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
• December 10, Human Rights Day provides opportunity to learn and share useful information on prevention.

• Contact your Ward Councillor who will give you information on joining your area Ward Panel to contribute to making a difference where you live.
• Tell the Police where you and others feel unsafe: https://www.police.uk/streetsafe
• Join Croydon Council VAWG Awareness Walk on Monday, 25 November at 4PM starting North End, Croydon outside Marks and Spencer ending at Croydon Town Hall.
• Join the Cassandra Centre WALK WITH US to end violence against women and girls to raise awareness 29 November at 17:30 (Starting Point: Brixton Lambeth College, Breaking Point: Brixton (Tate) Library to Encounter Point: Pop Brixton – Green House.)
